Orlando, FL – January 23, 2019 The Indian American Chamber of Commerce Orlando (IACC) will lead Orlando’s official 7th Annual India Day Celebration in Downtown Orlando, on February 2nd, 2019. The event will unite people from Central Florida and across the U.S., to celebrate cultural diversity and to commemorate India’s Republic Day- honoring the date when India’s Constitution went into effect.
Once again the IACC is partnering with the Orlando Magic and holding the event at Amway Center, located at 400 West Church Street. Festivities will start at Noon. The Orlando Magic will host the Brooklyn Nets at 7 PM.
IACC President Yog Melwani said, “The IACC is proud to cohost the 7th Annual India Day, thanks to the Orlando Magic and their continuing partnership. We’ve organized this annual event to celebrate and recognize the heritage of Indian Americans who live in Central Florida.” Dr. Varesh Patel is the India Day Chair.
The 2nd Annual India Day 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament will provide registered teams the opportunity to compete on the Magic Court, a regulation NBA Court- starting at 12:30 PM. The three age categories include ages 8-12, 13-17 and 18 and over.
Events will also include a Street Festival from 4 PM to 6:30 PM, on Church Street in front of the Amway Center. There will be Indian dancing and Yoga presentations, as well as Henna tattoos, Sari and Turban booths, and more. (Sari donations will be accepted for those in need, at the Sari booth.) There will also be a guest appearance by singer/ song writer Mickey Singh.
The 7th Annual India Day will end with a concert. All game attendees are invited to enjoy a post-game concert, featuring celebrity guest singer Mickey Singh.
