On Saturday, October 6th, the Indian American Chamber of Commerce- Orlando (IACC) will participate in the 2018 Walk to End Alzheimer's at Lake Eola.  This is the first year IACC has formed a team to advocate for a healthcare cause.  "IACC recognizes that brain health has numerous health care ramifications on our society.  We want to take the initiative to encourage our members to adopt healthy habits that include diet, exercise, and social engagement, while elevating Alzheimer's awareness," said Mr. Yog Melwani, IACC President.

The 2018 Walk to End Alzheimer's is an annual event, which is held in more than 600 communities throughout the United States.  According to the Alzheimer's Association, there are more than one half million Floridians diagnosed with Alzheimer's and 5.7 million Americans are living with this disease.  Every 65 seconds, someone in the United States develops this disease.

Mr. Melwani believes, "The time is now to highlight this disease, which does not have any cultural barriers.  I read an article recently that indicated in India, there are more than four million individuals diagnosed with this disease.  The effects of this disease are now being felt here in our Central Florida community.  It is up to us to take action now.”

During the evening of September 22nd, the Alzheimer's Association was awarded $1,000 at the IACC- Orlando Annual Awards Gala for programs to support caregivers, educational resources and programs that assist Alzheimer's patients to express themselves via art programs.

The Indian American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) is focused on “Connecting People and Fostering Business”.  The IACC represents over a billion dollars in economic activity, and it is widely recognized as the business organization for the Asian Indian community, as well as other individuals and corporations who currently, or in the future, would like to do business with Asian Indians in Central Florida or in India. The IACC is a not for profit 501 (c)(6) organization.  Visit www.IACCOrlando.com for more information.
