India Day 2018 will Attract Elected Officials and Thousands to Celebrate Cultural Diversity at the Amway Center on February 3rd

Orlando, FL – January 09, 2018  The Indian American Chamber of Commerce Orlando (IACC) will lead Orlando’s official India Day 2018 Celebration in Downtown Orlando on February 3rd, 2018. The event will attract elected officials from across Florida, and it will bring together thousands of people to celebrate cultural diversity at the Amway Center.  In previous years, up to five thousand Indians from across Florida and the United States have enjoyed this day-long event, which will showcase the Indian culture and community.

IACC President Yog Melwani is available for news media interviews ahead of the February 3rd event.  Mr. Melwani said, “The Indian American Chamber is proud to sponsor India Day 2018.  We believe the event is a great way to celebrate cultural diversity in Orlando and to recognize the heritage of Indian Americans living in Central Florida.” Dr. Amish Parikh is the India Day Co-Chair.

The event is a commemoration of India's Republic Day, honoring the date when India’s Constitution went into effect.  Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer has issued proclamations recognizing this event for the last three years.

The IACC is partnering with the Orlando Magic again in 2018 for this cultural event.  The Orlando Magic will host the Washington Wizards at 7 PM.  The NBA has recognized the India Day Celebration in Orlando as the Best Heritage Night in the NBA.

The IACC and Orlando Magic will host the First Annual India Day 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament. Teams will compete on the Magic Court to win prizes.  The three age categories for the tournament include ages 8-12, 13-17 and over age 18.

Indian-American children from Central Florida will sing the National Anthem at the Magic game.  There will also be a half time Indian dance show. Attendees can also stick around to enjoy a post-game concert featuring celebrity guest singer Raghav Mathur.

India Day 2018 will feature a large street festival in front of the Amway Center. It will showcase various dance groups, Turban/ Sari tying and Henna (Mehndi) artists.  The IACC invites everyone in Central Florida to attend the February 3rd event to learn more about the heritage of Indian-Americans living and working in Florida.

The IACC is a strong Chamber of Commerce with growing membership.  Its leaders are working to create opportunities for anyone who wants to do business with the Asian Indian American community.  IACC members stand committed to community service, to assisting charitable groups and to increase trade between the United States and India.
